Rules

1. BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER
Please be courteous and respectful to your fellow players and mods- we're all here to have a good time! Please remember that IC ≠ OOC and character thoughts and opinions do not necessarily reflect the player's own ideas.
2. DON'T INFO-MOD OR GOD-MOD OTHERS
Obligatory, but it bears mentioning all the same. Please refrain from assuming or controlling another character's actions without explicit permission from that character's player. On that note, please keep in mind that what you know of other characters and the game as a whole may not be known to your character and play them according to what they do or do not know.
3. BE OPEN TO COMMUNICATION
In order to play in the game, you must be willing to speak to other players on an OOC level- whether it's to ask questions about a particular setting or character, or to make sure that certain assumptions (such as fourthwalling, CRAU game CR, etc) are alright. However, if communicating with any specific player makes you uncomfortable and/or requires mod intervention, feel free to let the mods know and it will be addressed.
4. RATE AND LOCK POSTS APPROPRIATELY
This is, at its core, a horror game, and as such, certain horrific things will probably happen. Please use your best discretion on ratings and content warnings for logs. In addition, while sexual content is permissible, we require that all explicit sexual content be kept to the log community (under a cut, and locked for members-only), or in a character's IC Inbox if necessary. Sexually explicit material involving characters under the age of 16 is not permissible in the log community and should be handwaved or kept to a private musebox.
5. RESPECT PERMISSIONS AND OPT-OUT POSTS
Permissions and opt-out posts are extremely useful, especially in a horror game, and we encourage players to utilize them for ease of play. If you're unsure about playing out a specific scene or setting, it's always wise to check the other player's permissions posts (if they have one). Please respect other player's listed preferences, even if you personally disagree with them.
6. FULFILL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
We are requiring players to make a minimum AC of 20 network comments per month or 10 log comments per month or a combination of the two, with log comments counting for 2 network comments.
Examples of acceptable AC
-10 log comments
-20 network/inbox comments
-8 log comments and 4 network comments
-14 network comments and 3 log comments
-etc!
AC checks are self reporting and AC will be posted one week before the end of the month. AC is done on a two-strike policy- if a character fails AC for two months in a three month period without a valid player hiatus, the character will be swept. Each proof of AC can only be used once (ie: a log used for May cannot also be used for April if you have been tagging in it during both months). If a character fails AC for one month, they must make AC for the two consecutive months following the failed month for the strike to be cleared.
7. RESPECT GAME POLICY
1. There is currently a character cap of five characters per player allowed in the game.
2. There is currently a cast cap of twenty characters in any particular cast allowed in the game.
3. App challenges and reserve challenges are not allowed at this time. Applications and Reserves are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
4. Hiatuses may only be applied retroactively for one week. You must be hiatused for two weeks within an activity check period to be exempt from AC. This means that if you have an unexpected 2 week hiatus, you have one week within your hiatus to let us know about it in order to be exempt from AC that month.
5. Character tags in the network and log communities should be in Given Name, Surname (aka Western) order.
8. ASK PERMISSION FOR FOURTH WALLING/CR AUS
You must ask permission for your character to break the fourth wall with any other character. You must also ask permission for your character to remember CR with a character from a previous game. The only exception to this rule is if the other player has a permissions post stating that fourth-walling or CRAUs are alright.
9. ASK FOR PERMISSION BEFORE LARGE PROJECTS
We ask that players inform of us large projects that their characters are working on, particularly projects that consume resources from the game's natural setting so that we can reflect it in the Locations page and ensure that we are aware of the impact it has on our game. Our player project page is here for submissions.
