God Blessings
Dec. 2nd, 2015 09:13 pmSo, your character was given an awesome power by one of the gods. Whether they did the god a favor, won a contest, or did something else to capture a god's attention, congratulations! But what can each blessing do, exactly? Well, you've come to the right place! The blessings here will be given a brief overview, and then we'll get into the details of who gives what and what exactly it does. Hold onto your hats!
➤ Gods initially segment off a portion of their power into a corresponding sphere. Spheres are about 2-3 inches in diameter, and each sphere is color coded to the appropriate god.
➤ Spheres are delivered to characters in the manner of the god's choosing. Spheres must be crushed to transfer the ability from the sphere to the character. This means that spheres can be transferred to different characters if desired, though power cannot be split. Whoever crushes the sphere will gain the god ability for several months.
➤ When the sphere is crushed, it may emit a sound, scent, or elicit an emotion based on the god. It's not made of glass- it won't hurt your hand to break it- and when broken, a soft cloud of smoke will briefly emerge, before funneling itself into your character's hands.
➤ The power begins to decay as soon as it separates from the god (ie: when the sphere is created). At 3 months of no use, the power will decay completely. This means that spheres cannot be saved for a rainy day, and not breaking the sphere will not result in a longer 'power time'.
➤ When the blessing is bestowed upon your character, a small mark appears somewhere on their body. The mark and placement depend on the god, but it will fade as the duration of the power reaches its end, before disappearing entirely when the character no longer has the power.
➤ Gods do have the ability to nullify their own bestowed blessing. This will rarely (if ever) be done, so don't worry too much about it when plotting, but they do have a safeguard in place, because they're paranoid like that.
➤ All blessings, unless otherwise stated, will last a maximum of 3 months. With usage, the maximum time will decrease. Heavy usage can cut the time to a month and a half, medium usage around two months, and light usage, around two and a half. This is up to player discretion, but we will be making sure that nobody is still using their power beyond the three month mark.
➤ All blessings that affect minds can only be used on other characters with permission.

This power can heal anything from small wounds to large ones. It cannot bring people back to life, but it can save them from the brink of death. It can be used to heal both injuries and illnesses. |
FEAR | |||
The symbol will appear on the inside of the character's left wrist. | |||
Fear Itself Current Bearers None |
This power forces the target (human or animal) to see a hallucination of something they fear, much like during the fear itself event. However, the hallucination is incorporeal and cannot physically harm the victim. Only the victim can see the hallucination. |
RAGE | |||
The symbol will appear on the character's right bicep. | |||
Battle Ready Current Bearers None |
This power provides a boost to physical strength and stamina upon activation. It also temporarily numbs any pain received, resulting in an adrenaline-fueled state ideal for fighting. It can be activated and deactivated whenever the bearer wishes, but more use will drain the power more quickly. |
DELIGHT | |||
The symbol will appear on the character's left calf. | |||
Sustenance Current Bearers None |
This power gives you the ability to sustain yourself for a period without needing to eat, drink, or sleep. Activating the power will give you enough energy to continue doing whatever you might need to do without worrying about taking care of yourself, though the longer you use the power the quicker it will be used up. |
SORROW | |||
The symbol will appear on the back of the character's neck. | |||
Intuition Current Bearers None |
This power enhances both perception and logic for a time, enabling the bearer to predict likely outcomes to their own or others' actions. Upon activation, it allows you to notice things you might not normally, as well as boosting your intuition in predicting future possibilities. |
CONFUSION | |||
The symbol will appear on the character's left shoulder. | |||
Erase Current Bearers None |
This power grants the ability to wipe the memory of another being. Using the entire blessing at once could erase a few hours of time from someone's memory, while using less power can erase just a few seconds or minutes. Only Confusion can restore these erased memories. |
TRANQUILITY | |||
The symbol will appear on the character's right shoulder. | |||
Sleep Current Bearers None |
This power puts someone into a deep sleep for a period of time. They can only be awoken with serious effort such as causing them pain. Using a lot of power will send someone to sleep for as long as a day, while less power can knock them out for only a few minutes. |
LOVE | |||
The symbol will appear above the character's heart. | |||
Charm Current Bearers None |
This power makes someone more inclined to listen, sympathize, and like the user. While it doesn't control their mind or thoughts and it can't force someone to feel an emotion they don't, it will cause them to view someone in a more favorable light. How long this positive feeling lasts depends on the amount of power used. |
