H I A T U S

If you are planning to take a hiatus, please copy/paste this into a comment and fill it out, with HIATUS in your subject line:

You will be exempt from AC if you hiatus for two weeks or longer within an AC period. Hiatuses should not be for longer than a month without mod approval. Hiatuses may only be retroactive for one week. This means that if you have an unexpected 2 week hiatus, you have one week within your hiatus to let us know about it in order to be exempt from AC that month. If you have extenuating circumstances, please talk to us! By default, hiatuses will put your character on autopilot while you're away. If you'd like to arrange something else (death or some other effect), contact the mods and we can work something out.

[EDIT 3/10/2017] There are currently two IC options for hiatusing.

➤ Autopilot. Pretty straightforward, your character continues doing their thing in the city.
➤ Getting lost in the caves. Also straightforward, but it would require your character to ICly decide that they want to go hang out in the caves and then to- well, get lost in them. This is much easier than it looks, as the caves are long and twisty and sometimes pathways that you thought you came through suddenly aren't there anymore.
➤ Meditative state. Tranquility and Delight are capable of working together to put your character in a meditative state, during which the gods will draw emotions from their blanked-out brain. After waking up from this state, your character will be emotionally exhausted and prone to emotional outbursts for a day or two, though there will be no further lingering effects afterward. This is something your character will have to volunteer for, though the conversation with the gods can be handwaved. The gods tend to be very happy with those who do this for them, and volunteers may find themselves getting blessings and other small favors in the future.

If you decide it's time to leave the game, we're sorry to see you go! Characters who are dropped from Hadriel and then reapped in the future will find that while they were at home they remembered none of their time in Hadriel - their memories are suppressed upon leaving.
