bestiary

When the Door surges, it brings in monsters from any universe you can imagine. This happens monthly during the intro log, and occasionally throughout the month. Monsters that appear on the TDM also end up in Hadriel. Currently, these monsters are confined to the island the colosseum is on unless they can fly or swim - however, most will be wiped out quickly by kind monster hunters. A list of monster species that can no longer be found in Hadriel is here.
On the current world, there are some species of native wildlife that can be found and fought or eaten or observed. More information is available on the planetary rundown.
![]() |
Jabberjays | Jabberjays are a breed of bird that has been genetically engineered to perfectly imitate any human voice it hears. While they are no danger to anyone, they can certainly be alarming and frightening when they mimic the voice of your loved one screaming in terror or pain. More prosaically, they can repeat conversations word-for-word. There are currently about 15 of them around Hadriel. These creatures can be found within the city. |
![]() |
Kabutops | Kabutops is a prehistoric creature with scythes for hands that can cut through the water (and human flesh) like it's nothing. Its skin is rough and difficult to penetrate with basic weapons, and contrary to what anyone canon-savvy may expect, they are impossible to tame- so you might try to run while you can. |
![]() |
Lava Crabs & Rock Crabs | These confusing little things look just like rocks when they're in their shells, and they're content to stay that way... until you get close, and they come rushing out at you with their claws out, all ready to snip snip snip. Their hard shells make it difficult to hurt them, though you could always try to knock it off their back - or flip them over and attack their tender underbelly. |
![]() |
Virginias | Virginias are rather disturbing-looking monsters, looking a bit like multiple bodies all squished together. They move quickly, they can charge and leap at you, and those creepy arms and legs hurt like hell. They also make skittering noises, if you want to be even more creeped out. |
![]() |
Wendigo Spirits | While there are currently no active wendigos in the caves, Hope has trapped their spirits there, since he can't get rid of them entirely. This means no one is at any risk of being hurt by them or turning into a wendigo - unless they happen to resort to cannibalism while in the caves. Then they'll find themselves possessed by a wendigo spirit, slowly turning into a monster. So watch what you eat. |

Every time it takes damage, it splits into two, and then those two can individual split into two, etc. These smaller pieces slowly regenerate in size over time. CANON: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: A trio of red, blue, and green skinny bastards who want to jump down your throat and wear your skin for Halloween, turning you into a creepy, silent stalking killer. This would be an instant death because as soon as someone attacks the person being possessed by a bonethief, it rips out of their body like a xenomorph bursting out of your head and tries to kill or possess the next person it can. Save for the green bonethieves (which lack heads), the quickest way to ensure their death is to cut off their heads. Red bonethieves are more aggressive in their attacks, blues will attempt to drain a person of their magic if they possess any, and the greens affect the sanity of their victims.
CREATURE NAME: Trapper
CANON: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: Blind scorpion-like creatures that seem oddly cute at first and make adorable little squeaks. That is, until they notice their potential victim and emit a blast, teleporting them into the Trapper Dimension and killing themselves in the process. This is really their only purpose, as they are seemingly harmless at first -- so long as you sneak around in order to avoid detection. The Trapper Dimension is a small pocket place that exists outside of time and space and presents a few simple portals, obstacles, and puzzles in order for the victim to make their way back to reality. If possible, some of the obstacles might include fighting/evading a zombie near the exit portal or being zapped by a horror on one of the islands if you stand in one place for too long. These might actually even make for a good "event monsters" like the Mutant Atsume cats were incorporated into the Jumpscares event.
Like the bonethieves, the trappers appear in blue, red, and green, but unlike most of the enemies it is purely cosmetic for trappers and does not affect their only "attack".

CANON: Silent Hill Series

BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: The nurses come in a variety of forms from ones with faces covered in gauze to others that, if in the correct lighting, can be seen to be carrying a fetus. Due to their variety, they carry a good number of weapon types which may be useful to characters if they can actually get them out of the nurses' hands (including things like revolvers, pipes, scalpels, syringes, and knives)
CREATURE NAME: ECHIDNA
CANON: Shadow Hearts Series
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: This creature is not only a horrifying thing to encounter, alone or in a group, but its screams will be enough to haunt someone's nightmares for the rest of their lives.
CREATURE NAME: FUZZIES
CANON: Super Mario Series
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: You cannot tell me you don't love the idea of the whole fucking city touching fuzzy things and immediately having an allergic reaction that makes them hear the most fantastic fuzzied music in the world

CANON: The Walking Dead
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: Pretty great for bringing random groups of people together through trapping them in buildings/etc. and forcing them to work together to fight their way out! Much easier to kill than most other zombie-canons, from what I can tell. Daryl would love to be able to rub it in Jesse's face and say I told you so after their first encounter in the TDM where Jesse assumed Daryl's ranting about the undead was because he was on drugs.

CANON: Dead Space
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: Mutated necrotic humans caused by some alien infection thing that re-purposes a human body into something twisted and incredibly violent, only able to be killed by dismemberment or draining it of as much blood as possible by any means. When I say 're-purposed' an example of that would be a necropmorph's scythe arm being formed from the bone, or tentacles from intestine.
oops my finger slipped

CANON: The Adventure Zone
LINK TO WIKI, IF AVAILABLE: LINK
BRIEF DESCRIPTION, IF NO WIKI: god i really can't summarize it better than the wiki. The Hunger is a sentient plane that feeds on other planes, created from the bitter nihilism of an entire planar system and its inhabitants.
