Sure! Chris can absolutely find it. It's a computer chip that resembles an advanced microprocessor, burnt and blackened enough to be unusable. There's no salvageable data on the chip, but it doesn't look to be of human design. It's oddly shaped and composed of a copper-colored foreign alloy, certainly nothing you'd find just lying on the shelf at Best Buy.

And yes, playing and recording the music to transfer it would be fine!
