That mostly depends on the player! If you'd like your character to enter into the game with some sort of mortal wound that they received in canon, it would be allowed. Other characters can attempt to heal them, or they can ask the gods for a little assistance. However, if you feel as if it would impede your playing too much right off the bat, then we can say that they were brought in with their injuries healed by Hope!
